Title: Proactive vs. Reactive: The Opportunities and Challenges of Using AI to Manage Dynamic Risk

Description:

The last several years have shown that not only is the operational environment increasingly dynamic, but the nature of risk itself is as well. Many organizations hyper-focus on the immediate risk and fail to prepare for unexpected secondary events. These “dynamic risks” can result in a negative impact quite different than the one expected; for example, security leaders are prepared for a hurricane to hit the Gulf Coast but did not anticipate a secondary event—flooding in Manhattan. This presentation will examine the concept of dynamic risk, how AI is driving risk intelligence from traditionally reactive responses toward a proactive approach, and common considerations and pitfalls related to AI selection and use.

  • Participants will understand the working definition of dynamic risk through a discussion of the different types of dynamic risk commonly faced by organizations, as well as learn a framework for employing AI and the key considerations related to selecting AI technology.
  • Learn about how AI empowers response teams to mitigate negative impacts by providing valuable time to plan ahead and common challenges specific to business continuity, GSOC, security, SCRM and HR teams when managing dynamic risks.
