Title: Sacred Spaces — Prevention-Based Security Mindset for Faith and Outreach Communities

Description:

To maintain the integrity of sacred spaces, physical and technology measures are only as effective as the humans behind them. In environments like houses of worship, outreach organizations, schools, etc.; that security mindset must be integrated with the goals of the organization.  Organizations are commonly soft targets and seek to maintain inclusion and welcoming atmospheres.  Security practitioners must have more than an operational knowledge of security measures, they must understand the culture, build relationships, and empower leadership to the protection of the community.

  • Participants will develop skills in the dissemination of cultural priorities of a community.
  • Participants will apply methods of proactive engagement to threat assessment and intervention.
  • Participants will engage strategy on program development in vulnerable environments and soft targets.
